There is one National Highway passing through the district namely N.H. 217 , passing from Gopalpur to Raipur via Daringibadi and Balliguda. The all other major category of roads are : State High Way (389 Kms), Major District Raods (133 Kms.), Other District Roads (63 Kms.), Forest Road (323 Kms.), Gram panchayat Roads (5651 Kms.), Classified Village Roads (279 Kms.), P.S. Roads (532 Kms.) and Village Roads (853 Kms.).
Kandhamal district has two Roads & Building Division in holding the responsibility in creating Road Bridge & Building infrastructures along with maintaining and up keeping of the same. Balliguda R&B Division, Balliguda and Phulbani R&B Division, Phulbani in charge of Executive Engineers discharging the duties all the development functions of their sector. Besides, these two divisions, a Rural Works Division at Phulbani in charge of Executive Engineers also discharging the functions. Each division has its own jurisdiction in area of operation and also the categories of Roads & Building construction and maintenances in the district
